Created by Magnusmode, MagnusCards is a free app that combines the specialized instruction of a behavior therapist and real-world images with an illustrated character named Magnus to enable customers with cognitive disabilities and anyone who could use extra guidance navigate everyday experiences.
Magnus explains experiences through digital Card Decks: short how-to guides that are specific to traveling through Jay St-MetroTech or the NYCT Subway system. Each Card Deck provides step-by-step visual, audio, and text instructions that set expectations and ease anxiety.
As part of the Accessible Station Lab pilot, Magnusmode is offering 10 Card Decks that can help subway riders navigate our system:
- Planning Your Trip
- Understanding the Subway Map
- Buying & Using a MetroCard
- Reading the Subway Signs
- Riding the Subway
- How to Navigate Jay St-MetroTech Station
- Having a Safe and Comfortable Ride
- Sensory Experiences on the Subway
- How to Transfer Subway Lines
- How to Transfer to Ground Transportation
