Mahopac-Croton Falls Shuttle

The Mahopac-Croton Falls Shuttle is a weekday rush-hour bus service operated by Putnam Transit between the Croton Falls Metro-North station, Mahopac, and Lake Mahopac. There is no service on Saturday or Sunday.  Buses are timed to connect with Metro-North trains to and from Grand Central.

Fares

Bus and rail fares

The adult one-way bus fare is $2, payable in exact change to the bus operator. Seniors (65 or older), people with disabilities, and Medicare recipients pay $1 if they show appropriate ID.

For travel between Croton Falls and Grand Central, a one-way ticket costs $20.75 on peak trains and $15.25 on off-peak trains. A monthly rail-only ticket costs $407.75.

UniTicket

Shuttle passes are available as add-ons to weekly and monthly Metro-North tickets for $7 and $20 respectively. They cannot be bought separately from a rail ticket. A combined bus and rail ticket to Grand Central is $427.75 monthly or $152 weekly.

These combined UniTickets are only sold at ticket machines and ticket offices. They are not available on the TrainTime app.

Holiday service

The Mahopac-Croton Falls Shuttle will not run on:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, and the day after Thanksgiving, the shuttle will run on a special schedule. Metro-North trains will run on a Saturday schedule, with additional trains during the morning and evening rush hours.

Guaranteed Ride Program

Monthly UniTicket holders are eligible for the NYSDOT-sponsored 511NY Guaranteed Ride Program. This program allows you to take up to $600 a year in local cab, rideshare (Uber or Lyft), carpool, or transit trips when your regularly scheduled connecting service isn't available.
