Cycling customers,
Starting September 7, 2021, you will no longer be required to show a bike permit when boarding Metro-North trains with your full-sized bicycle. The requirement is also being lifted on Long Island Rail Road.
"Metro-North believes deeply in the value of sustainable transportation and looks forward to helping our customers ride the system more seamlessly with their bikes in tow," said Metro-North President Cathy Rinaldi. "As more and more riders continue to return to the railways, it's essential that we're doing everything we can to accommodate them and making it easier to travel with bikes is one way of doing that. There's still plenty of time left this summer to take the train to destinations across the Hudson Valley — from the Empire Trail to Mill River Park."
Other requirements regarding taking your bicycle on the train remain in effect. For current information on taking your bike on Metro-North, visit our webpage.
