MTA Long Island Rail Road today announced the South Fork Commuter Connection will be back on track on September 7th. The SFCC, a coordinated rail and bus system, connects LIRR trains with shuttle services and reduces traffic congestion. It gets many teachers, government, hospital and “trade parade” workers to their jobs on the East End, helping to stimulate the South Fork economy. There are six additional trains per day with stops in Speonk, Westhampton, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk. Some trains connect with "last-mile" shuttle bus service to nearby workplaces and employment centers. "Any chance we have to get commuters out of their cars and onto public transit while reducing traffic is a win-win-win for customers, communities, and our environment,” said Long Island Rail Road President Phil Eng. “This partnership with local East End officials is a true testament on how we can work together to improve the quality of life for so many. As we strive to continue to support the needs of Long Island and local businesses, we're thrilled to restore this service that will allow more people to sit back, relax on the railroad and leave the driving to us." A one-way fare covering trains and shuttles is set at $3.25. Tickets are available at full-service ticket machines, where the South Fork Commuter Connection ticket will be listed under “Deals & Getaways.” This ticket is available for purchase from Ticket Machines at Speonk, Westhampton, Hampton Bays and Southampton. Customers are encouraged to purchase a return trip ticket in advance. As Long Islanders head back to work on the East End, the South Fork Commuter Connection will provide a lifeline for local East End businesses and their employees by bringing traffic relief to local roads and the environment.
