Authority Crews Working Around the Clock to Deliver Safe Service During Snow Event

MTA ridership was lighter than usual today as customers heeded the Authority's advice to avoid traveling if possible due to the winter storm. For those who did need to use the system, the MTA took a range of measures to deliver safe service on itsbridges, tunnels, buses, subways, and railroads, including de-icing in stations and on bridge and tunnel roadways. Current service impacts are as follows:
Bridges and Tunnels
MTA bridges and tunnels are open with a 35-MPH speed restriction, and all pedestrian walkways are closed.
Buses
Articulated buses are not running, and all standard 40-foot buses have tire chains on. A reduced schedule with 75% service is in effect. All scheduled trips are being provided on paratransit.
Subways
NYC Transit will move trains from outdoor yards to underground express tracks for storage after the PM rush, so all service will be local-only for several hours this evening. A normal morning rush with full express service is expected. Transit personnel are also actively inspecting and removing snow from debris-catching nets under elevated structures, to prevent snow from accumulating on them.
